Getting complaints by Patrons why download links to podcasts are no longer available.
Why did that change?

Hey @chris1612, thanks for reaching out about this, and apologies for any confusion this has caused.
We recently changed the way audio files appear in posts to make your exclusive content more secure. As a result of this change, patrons will no longer be able to download your audio files onto a desktop computer. Your patrons will still be able to download audio content for secure offline listening on the Patreon mobile apps, and listen through the player on both desktop and mobile, or through their own private RSS link.

Audio files can still be downloaded for offline playback on our mobile apps. That being said, I can understand how having the links available for download on desktop could be convenient for your patrons. I’ve shared your feedback with the product team, and we will keep this in mind moving forward. While I can’t guarantee that this will result in any changes, we make sure to review each piece of feedback we receive.

Oh well.
I better not trust the people running this platform then if a key component is changed for people offering podcasts via Patreon.

I’m not sure if this thread is the best place to ask, but is there a way that I can download my own audio from older posts?
I was looking for the link today and that’s how I stumbled upon this thread! I accidentally deleted the original of two of my old posts off my computer. :X

Hi @nessak and @chris1612, thanks for your feedback about this. I passed it along to the product team and we had a discussion about the feedback we were hearing from the community, including those who wanted to keep audio download links available, for a variety of reasons. We’ve taken your feedback into consideration and have decided to roll back this change, make the download links available again, and reconsider how we can better meet the needs of creators and patrons for listening to and downloading audio.

Why not just make this an option on the post?
Include Download Link? Checkbox. Default value is TRUE to maintain the original functionality. Then the Creator can opt to have no download link on a per-post basis?
