@carla @jack @Fullmetalifrit … it’s done:
What an incredible post, John @8bit. Thank you SO much for making the time and sharing an amazing insight into how you think about all this.
You and I have very different products (and approaches) but I’ll certainly take on board many of the things you have suggested. I’ve been really pleased with how mine’s going too since launching on 9th November.
I make money in other ways from my work, such as selling through the online shop and sponsorship from the organisation my work is about. BUT I can’t wait to earn more money from Patreon, that’s for sure, and will come back to reread this post a few times to digest it all.
In the meantime, consider it bookmarked and I’m going to head over to your page and become a Patron to support what you’re up to and see what you mean about engagement!
Thanks again, John.

Wow! Thank you! You don’t have to do that at all…! But appreciate it!
I’m using the new Lens feature a lot… already had some incredible feedback from the community:
I doubt I am the “snap king” of patreon… but, it’s a useful tool. My biggest wish is that it was publicly available for desktop users… … … pretty please…
Excellent…one more thing (for the mo). Would you be happy to share the wording you use when messaging ‘declined’ Patrons?
Thank you in advance.
— Jack
Sure. I’ll add it to the original post thread…
Hi there! My name is Michael aka Xynode of Xynode Gaming®!
I am a content creator and YouTube live streamer focusing primarily on The Elder Scrolls Online!
I aim to help players in their journey in the game with factual content and direct support in order to help them progress and/or enjoy the game in ALL areas, making all of the content in the game accessible to players regardless of skill/character level and/or experience.
There are unfortunately those out there who shun away nice people who are not considered “the best”, and my goal is to make sure that NO one is pushed out, anyone can enjoy this game, it was meant for all!.
The game is an escape and a time/place to enjoy, and i aim to make as many people as happy as possible with correct and in-depth information, help and support so that they can perform to the best of their ability to get whatever job it is they want done while having as much fun as possible! This is done in the form of live streams (where i interact heavily with the audience), content and build videos, and of course one to one sessions and support with individuals :)
I am very grateful to be invited into this Patreon community and would like to say a BIG hello to you all!
welcome!
when we first start doing YT we did a gaming channel. it was very hard to grow and to monetize… but obviously not impossible! good luck!
Thank you! I have been doing it for over a year so far and constantly growing, really looking forward to what the future brings
what is your channel! i’d love to check it out!
you’re setup looks awesome!
Thank you!!
bumping We just invited a few of our LA friends to this group - I look forward to their introductions.
Hello! I create educational tutorials on YouTube: www.professordaveexplains.com
I’ve covered most of the physical sciences and now I’m branching out, with the eventual goal of covering every academic subject there is.
Hi! I research, illustrate, and write about badass historical women here: www.rejectedprincesses.com
I’m one of the LA people Carla mentioned.
@carla: is it possible to create an LA sub-forum?
Let me think about that a little. Since we’re close to hiring a community manager, I’d like them to get to know this group a little first and then we can move into that. I’ll add it to the list of their onboarding things!
@carla: I know a ton of us wanted to continue meeting up, and many talked about starting a Discord or Slack or somesuch. I’m happy to run point (set up a Google Group or Slack or something), but have no way of contacting the other people who were at that event. Having a social network in-town of people who can relate to what you’re doing would be valuable beyond measure. This sort of thing is lonely work.
Hello! Wow, there are a lot of posts here.
I’m Kate. I’m an actor & a writer who frequently creates her own shows, two of which are now on Amazon! You can check me out here: patreon.com/katehackett
Over the last few months, my Patreon took off. I would LIKE to get it to a place where I’m resting comfortably ~3000 a month. Wouldn’t that be neat.

We are looking to build a small team this year, and would love to to get some guidance/suggestions/feedback from other users on team building, content strategy, copy and design, etc.
Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
Hi Kate, were you at the Patreon event in LA last night?
FYI, you have a broken link in your ‘thank you’ message to new supporters.
Let’s get the ball rolling with a photo, shall we? An AWKWARD photo.
And then the photo from this link is missing:
