To introduce oneself. This is the hardest isn’t it?

I received this invitation a few weeks ago, but ended up super busy with school. And writing my BA Paper (English Lit).
I started using patreon in January, but it really took off for me during April when I began working with a new social media platform (Mastodon), first on voluntary basis, and now as a Project Manager. (We actually use the same forum software, discourse, for our own feedback channels!)

Other than that I consider myself a writer, or at least blogger, but have had a few years of difficulties writing anything for myself.
And I do Twitch Streaming, used to be twice weekly, until I had to crunch my thesis/essay.

I’ve always been a jack of all trades, which I thought would hurt me in regards to using Patreon, but it seems to work better than I had expected!

What else do you guys want to know? I’m Swedish, 31 years old, cis, pan/poly. And I hope to get some good conversation out of this community.

The patreon that pays my salary (by extension)

Hello all

The name of my art project is Felix Mater Society.

Just received the invitation to this community. Let me introduce myself. My name is Gian Keller. Beside of working hard in my day job I support and promote independent filmmakers. Not a cheap hobby but I think it is important to create alternative films. Why it is important? Well, real art is produced where the rules of market is less important than the idea of the artist itself. I was already able to help creating some feature and shortfilms. You can find an overview of films on my IMDb page:
IMDb - Felix Mater Society

I just started to use Patreon. I hope to find on that way people that like as well to help independent filmmakers. Find Patreon page here:

And, yes, I run as well a personal website:
Felix Mater Society

I hope to find nice people here and I as well hope to learn more from you.

Thanks

Moin,

pausing my Patreon engagement. I was spending way too much time on caring for this - loosing that time for what is important in life (including doing what I did when I started the Patreon experiment to gain some support - if I don’t have the time to do what I want to do because I spend that time on caring for Patreon account hickups and website bla and social media, nobody wins).

Since I don’t facebook, don’t twitter and don’t consider the web to be a replacement for life, I am probably just too dumb to use this kind of portal/system/whatsnot.

Marc

I’m Victoria (Toria) - my art studio, is called the Peridot Tiger Art & Jewelry Studip. And, I’m, quite honestly: I am getting really depressed. I’ve been a member, a creator, on patreon since around July of last year. And have not had a single patron offer support.

No one has responded to any of my posts on the place on my creators page, for posts to be put up. Nothing.
I put a counter on my page once, and it was over 20,000 visitors (not counting myself) within a few weeks, so, I know its been seen.
I’ve tried on deviant art, to create a group of visual artists and writers who share the desire to create family friendly content. With the intent that we could help each other by pledge for pledges and links for links, on Patreon. But, I just got sworn at and degraded, called every name in the book. Because I would not allow artists who created erotic or anything sexually oriented or anything with violence that kids under the age of 10 could or should not see. So, I scrapped that idea.
I’m just at my Whit’s end here.

Anyway:
I’m a multi-medium ), multi-area of study artist.
A fine artist/illustrator (who works in acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored, graphite and charcoal pencils, pastels and pen and ink). I do my own original works- subjects: fantasy and non-fantasy. Human and Animal Portraits. Scenery: land/sea/skyscapes. Scenes. And fan-art as well.
I try to make everything family friendly. I want to create things that my friends kids can enjoy looking at without her worrying about what they are seeing on my section(s) of the internet.
I don’t want to have to sell out my ideals or morales. In order to make money. But, I’m really strugling. Financially.
I don’t want to draw things that would make me embarrassed to have family members see it.
Anyway-
I’m also a jewelry artist.
A polymer clay artist.
A wood burning artist.
And do some other things, as well.

I currently have taken down most of the content on my Patreon creator’s page, because I have tried numerous different things, on it, to make it more appealing. I just don’t know what else to do.

I am unable to make much or interesting or quality video content. My small group of collectors, is, for some reason: either afraid of crowd funding; unable to afford much, so they disregard crowd funding because they think it requires large sums of money (and ignore things, when I tell them that is not the case).

Most of what I’ve been seeing here is upbeat, I’m sorry to be a downer. I’m just really getting depressed and discouraged.
I’m disabled, cannot physically work due to those disabilities and PTSD (and, no, its not due to being in the service. I might get more regard if I had been).
I’m also Dyslexic.
I’m on disability, hate it and am trying to get out of that (the government in the USA makes people feel like criminals because we can’t work and because others misuse the system). I want to support myself. But, I’m starting to lose hope.

Most of the features on Patreon seem to be mostly geared towards creators who either: are you tubers, podcasters or can create other forms of video or verbal content.
While I would like to do that, eventually (mostly out of nesseity, rather than any real desire- due to the PTSD, I’m somewhat afraid of people, and a bit awkward, socially, as well) I currently cannot.

I struggle to put a 2-10 minute video of my drawing something together (it takes weeks, to a month). I don’t know what could be done, or what could be offered for visual artists, but right now, I feel like people like me are being overlooked and abandoned. If we cant make video content well, or at all, we’re up the creek.
Again, sorry to be depressing.
I’m just… Getting ready to give up if I can’t figure this out, soon. Probably by December of this year.

If anyone can offer suggestions. I would be happy. I don’t know if it’s worth posting a link to my creator page. Since I have removed most of the content on it to try (yet AGAIN) to make it more appealing. I’m never sure what to post on it, if I’m saying too much or not enough.
Also. I’m on my phone, at the moment, when posting this. So, please forgive any typos.

I appreciated the nudge to make a video so I sat down to make one myself and it became a comedy of errors. Laughable, really. I am a producer, but I have lots of people working on the show. They are the team that actually make it all happen.

I sat down with my laptop, the camera inside it, a snowball microphone, and a typed script.
No hair and makeup, the wrong angle, not knowing where to look, lighting that blew out the background, my microphone placed too low so it didn’t pick up anything. Not good at all.

Man. I will try again, but I need to make a few adjustments first. LOL.

Hello Creators!

Wow, I’m really loving what I’ve read so far from this community. I think this will help me marvelous much!

I’m Sarah Carney and I am a maker and an artist. I intend to use Patreon to help me find patrons that are interested in funding public art that I normally wouldn’t have cash for.

I hope to learn a lot here about not only how to fix or work around technical troubles but also how I can improve my Patreon and the experience for my Patrons. As a bonus I hope to find more awesome creators to connect with. :relaxed:
