Receive payments in the currency they are sent

So, my Patrons get to choose their currency, and I get the payout in my chosen currency. Is there a way to simply get paid in whichever currency the patron sent? My PayPal is able to receive them.

That would be good for us as well. At least with US dollars and GBP, although not with other currencies.

What would be the benefit of such a system? I only see the disadvantages at the moment. If there are different currencies, it needs multiple payouts per creator, so also more fees. On my end, now I have to deal with all the currencies in terms of bookkeeping, doing multiple payouts to my bank and so on.

I buy from the US, Europe and UK, so I can use the currency. It’s not an option that everyone would want, but it would be useful for me and perhaps others :grinning:
I don’t know if it would mean more fees. I thought the fees were a flat percentage, then a conversion fee on top. If anything, wouldn’t it be less fees because you’re not having it converted?

I’d like this too as it wold save on FX fees for the conversions. At the moment as NZD isn’t an option I get paid out in USD but live in NZ so if they pay in GBP it would be 1 conversion from GBP to NZD not 2 conversions from GBP to USD then USD to NZD

Unfortunately that would result in Patreon’s take going down, and since Patreon don’t give a tinker’s fart about creators, only about paying dividends to investors, they just aren’t going to do it. Not that they ever do anything that doesn’t involve their take going up an creators’ take going down.

Hi there, thanks for your thoughts. Adding the ability to pay out in multiple currencies adds a lot of complexity to our payments process, but we are actively working on adding more payout currencies (though you’d still only be able to pay out in one currency of your choice). Look out for a number of new payout currencies coming before the end of the year (including NZD, @NZSportRadio!)
