Patreon Product Ideas

Yes please!

That would be amazing @ellie. Thank you!

You got it! You’ll now see the option to schedule posts from your posting tool (you’ll see a cleaner look to the posting tool as well).

Scheduling posts is pretty straightforward but here is an article on the new feature if you’d like any more info. Lemme know if you have any questions and hope you have a great week!

Done! Now when you click the orange ā€œpostā€ button at the top right of your account, you’ll see the option to schedule posts. Here is an article with more info if you get stuck.

Let me know how your experience is with this feature and anything that could make it better for you!

Great! Thanks!

(Sorry if this has already been brought up, I’m not sure how to check if it has…)
I would LOVE to be able to have a gallery on Patreon. Or lets say an archive, with pictures, not just text. A simple overview with all my posts.

All of my posts are heavily focused on photos (and I most often include multiple photos per post, which is why I’m also eagerly awaiting the multi-photo-feature!) so for me it would be great if there was an overview-page of all my posts where you can see big thumbnails of them all. Like a gallery.
There are soo many visual artists on Patreon that I think would really benefit from a gallery, right?

Right now there isn’t any way to get a good overview of all the posts, there is so much scrolling.
I’d love if I could have everything on my Patreon page and not have to direct people, or patrons, to other sites.

Hey @nymla, great idea! I know there is a good amount of interest from creators for something like this.

To see if something has already been posted, you can enter search terms into the magnifying glass at the top-right while you’re on a page you want to search.

Thanks so much for all your contributions in the community so far!! It’s great to have you here.

Yes, this! All of those suggestions are great, I want them all xD

Also, for example if one has a reward that says ā€œyou will see finished projects a day before everyone elseā€, it would be great if one could post something at a certain pledge lvl, and then after some time be able to make that post public, and still be able to notify the followers and patrons that haven’t seen the post, instead of posting another identical post or just updating it and noone seeing it.
For example, on DeviantArt when editing a ā€œpostā€ there is a little checkbox that says ā€œnotify your Watchersā€, this would be a simple but super useful feature!

I love that idea, Nymla. I don’t have anything behind a paywall, but I would love to have it available just to patrons for some amount of time and then unlock for everyone else exactly as you said.

Yees! I sell my artwork in an Etsy shop, and I’d like to give all my patrons first dibs on those, so they get a chance to buy anything before everyone else.

Ok @ellie so I posted this in a reply to @inversephase in another category, but thought I’d throw it here as well since it probably fits here better.

I’d love to see an upsell/downsell option for patrons as they pledge and when they decide to stop pledging. This is something I use with other areas of my website.

For example, when a new patron comes to pledge and they click to support at $1, they would be given the option of raising the pledge to the next level, say $3. Perhaps something like, "Thank you so much for pledging your support, interested in [additional reward at the next level]? They would then have to decline the upsell offer and proceeding with the current pledge amount.

On the downsell side of things, when a patron decides to stop supporting they would be taken to a page giving them the option to simply lower their current support level. The options would be, ā€œYes, I still find value in what [creator name] is producing and want to continue supporting, but at a lower levelā€ or, if they chose to remove support they could click on something similar to, "No, I no longer find value in what [creator name] is producing and want to remove my support].

Giving them an option to both increase the pledge on the front end and lower (rather than just remove) on the back end I think would be extremely beneficial.

Just my thoughts

I think the downsell option would be great!! Some kind of reminder that points out that they can choose one of the lower pledges. Seems that they often forget that they can change their pledge, instead of cancel it all.

The upsell thing feels a little too much for me personally, but maybe I’m just too scared to be too ā€œsalesyā€ and pushy. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can totally understand that. Perhaps an option to use them individually or not at all would be good

That would be a good use of it. I was thinkin’ of something similar. I was planning on opening limited art commission reward tiers during my Patreon anniversary next year, and would use something like this to offer it to current patrons first.

I’m with you, @nymla! I can see upselling as a valuable thing for low-dollar pledges but I think retention is an even more important thing. I’d rather just be like ā€œhey, please don’t go, even supporting me for a buck means I can make one more sandwich than before.ā€

This just occurred to me as the holiday shopping season is upon us: Patreon gift cards.

You put money on the card, gift the card, and the recipient uses it to fund what they choose on Patreon.

Building on that…

Start a program (opt-in) through which Patreon creators can join a special promotional group. That group is offered to the cardholder as a bonus. $xx is automatically added to the card as bonus money — to be used on backing as many of the promo group Patreon campaigns as that amount of bonus dollars allows.

The bonus money is either reimbursed through Patreon to the creators — or — the creators take the loss in return for allowing a group of potential new backers to sample the content being offered.

OMG Yes Yes Yes, Patreon Gift Cards now that would be the coolest Christmas gift ever! I would absolutely love to have something like that…how can we make this happen! I’m about to have a huge drive on my Patreon page and am looking for exciting rewards, and I think some kind of GiftCard would be great as one of the rewards, as well as something just as a gift or for Christmas. Imagine being able to become an exclusive member of your favourite artist’s club. @ellie @taryn @jackconte please say that we can make this happen!

I think the logistics of a gift card would need to be discussed for sure, but I’m with @bradguigar and @Sarah, I think gift cards are a super-cool idea that would help people generate buzz.

If you wanted to do this even simpler, people could just outright buy a card (or redeemable code) for a certain dollar amount, it puts that amount of money in the Patron’s account, they can support anyone they want that way. When it’s about to run out, they’re offered the ability to provide alternate funding (perhaps offer this during onboarding as well, but don’t require it), but at least if the card is purchased up front there’s no question as to where the money is coming from.

@ellie, I don’t mean to bug you guys with this issue again but what happens is, my patrons still complain about this and I understand why. I’ll post what I wrote before hopping I can hear from you (Patreon Team) if this is something that can be solved easily or not. Here’s the issue:

Thank you!
