Merch for Membership Questions

One thing I wanted to know about the merch store: for those who were grandfathered in for batched processing of pledges, would enabling the merch store move them to unbatched processing? Or would we get to stay batched, only affecting Patreon’s fee?

Additionally, as an 18+ creator myself, would 18+ content be eligible for printing or would it need to be sfw?

I recently got an email invited to try this out, but when I click the link to “Get Started” it dumps me onto the tier page with no information. I was hoping to get a little information about the Merch for Membership limited release, but I’m not sure how I’m supposed to see or use the merch system.

I think it is dumping me on the wrong page for some reason, as when I click the link I go directly to the “Edit Tiers” page on Patreon with no other information. Might just be my account since it sounds like other people are able to see things and add stuff.

Hi Zedrin! Anna from the Creator Success team here. I am looking into your first question, re: batched v. unbatched processing with my colleagues on the merch team, so sorry for the delay in answering this part of your question for the moment.

Regarding 18+ content, yes you are eligible to print your work on merch provided that your chosen design meets the general guidelines for public content on 18+ pages on Patreon <-- aka your cover image, tier art, and public posts which are visible to non patrons must be appropriate for all audiences.

I hope this context helps! I will be back in touch asap regarding your first question, so thank you kindly for your patience.

Hi Watsup! Anna from the Creator Success team here. What is your Patreon url? I’m happy to look into this for you. The merch banner on my “Edit Tiers” page has a “Create Merch” button, so clicking there for me leads straight to the item design process. Have you opted-in to the merch feature yet? Keep me posted!

I click the “Get Started” link in the email, but there doesn’t appear to be an opt-in anywhere or a merch banner. I have definitely not opted-in yet, and I’m not sure where to do so.

I should also note that the second campaign I’m a part of also got an invitation to this, and they also have the same problem.

They’re also an adult campaign, could it be a problem with adult content creators?

Hi again! I had the team enable the merch banner for you, so you’re welcome to check that out on your “tiers” page. 18+ creators are welcome to use the merch feature; our content policy for merch items is the same as the policies for your publicly visible cover photo, tier images, and public posts, so just make sure your desired merch designs are appropriate for all audiences.

Hey Apuig, I have the exact same problem and cannot access any page that directs me to launch a merch program. Is there a way you can also help me with this? My username is InclusiveLove, thank you!

Hi Anna! I just submitted this to Patreon as a whole, but thought you might be able to help?
We signed up for Merch for Membership on July 31st- a mug at our $25 tier. I believe I “published” it to our page, so it’s live. And we also started advertising it. We have not finalized the design, though, and are working on that right now. I noticed that you can update the design before the item ships.

  1. When do we need to submit the design so that’s the one that patrons who pledge 3 consecutive months will get? How do we get a sample?
  2. Can new patrons sign up- say in September, and still get this mug three months later? Or is this a one-time thing, where only the patrons who were patrons on July 31st will get this particular merch item 3 months from then (end of October)?
  3. If we continue offering this for 6 months, will patrons who’ve been around that long get 2 of the same mug?
  4. Is it recommended to offer this on a timeline (scarcity), say, for example, “Sign up at our $25 tier by August 31st and get an exclusive Patron-only mug design.” If we did that, then do we just cancel the membership after the initial 3 months so no one else gets it?

Thanks so much!
