On first impression, I love that you have a cover photo with your social media URLs. I also love your goals and wonder if it would make more sense to transfer the couple that you mention in your “about me” section into your goal section and focus the “about me” section more on what it is that patrons will get out of joining your community.
Rewards are great! I might recommend adding a couple higher-tiered rewards as well.
Hopefully some others can chime in here but that’s what I’ve got for now. Great job!
I hadn’t realized that I put a few goals into my “about me” section. I’ll be sure to transfer! Hmm, it’s a little hard for me to figure out exactly what my patrons will get out of my community other than accessing certain content essentially through a paywall/rewards.
I’ll make sure to add more higher-tiered rewards once I figure out what I can give.
Hi Everyone. I’ve been going a while, with different incarnations of my page, and not received any feedback as yet. Since the new year, I’ve changed the focus of the page slightly - any feedback would be much appreciated. Here it is - be gentle! - http://patreon.com/garethsouthwell
First, I love the concept of an illustrated book club. I think perhaps in the description section you might move the part about higher rewards into the goals section. It would give your patrons something bigger to shoot for and make your description a little more concise. It looks like you have also mentioned how the pay per creation works twice in your description which could be condensed into one paragraph. For your $1 reward, I would add change the wording to “Access to all of my patron-only posts”, just adding the word “all” so potential patrons realize they are getting more than just the post(s) they paid for. You might put some bullet points after to let them know what that means: sketches, WIP, etc.
All are just suggestions, you know what will work best for you. Best of luck!
Thank you very much, @Lochy, this is very useful. I’ve changed some things about, increased/altered the rewards, added goals and reduced the main text. Hopefully, that’ll help! Thank you ever so much!
Your infographics are sleek and well designed, though a little small which makes them difficult to read.
Also, your first goal is a bit confusing as it is for $500, but in it you mention a $45 cost for hosting/email. You might consider making it $45 for your first goal. Smaller goals in the beginning really help potential patrons see that even their small monthly pledge is making a difference toward something achievable.
You may also consider making polls public (at least until you get a good number of patrons). Polls are a good way to get potential patrons interacting and invested with you and what you are doing. It’s a good way to gauge and engage them and let them know you’re interested in providing content that will be of value to them and hopefully entice them to pledge.
Hi Luchy, thanks for your feedback. Totally agree the the goals should be smaller, especially for my audience. Also will make the polls public to encourage more input.
As for the infographics. I assuming you’re referring to what I cropped and pasted into my About post? You’re saying those are too small to ready? Perhaps I should replace them with graphic and just offer the entire infographic as a free download.
I really like the way the different infographics break up the paragraphs of text in your About post. They are eyecatching and keep you moving down the page as well as keeping the different sections organized. I just think the text needs to be at least 2pts larger which means the graphics will probably have to be a bit taller.
Hey Patreonials,
We don’t “create”, we “curate”, so I think this is a bit different from your normal creator page. As such, I’m finding it difficult to write it:
First of all, people are basically signing up to discover new music every month. And the money’s going both to us (we support street performers) and to the street performers (and, in the case of two albums, to a charity called “Ukulele Kids Club”). So, there’s a big kinda mixed-message thing going on.
I second the infographic advice on your page – I found them difficult to read at that size, so I’d suggest making them larger. This is especially awkward because the image under “What will you get” should make me excited to receive gifts, not squinty
I think you might also want to sell yourself. Something like “I can help you save 3 hours a week, with very little training, on pointless tasks that can be completely automated!”
@gareth.southwell – I would also recommend a couple of things. I’m a copy-editor (or at least I was before I started doing this current project), so I’ve actually taken the liberty to make my version of your opening para FEEL FREE TO IGNORE MY HUGELY OBNOXIOUS REWRITE! (I just hope it helps)
The idea of The Illustrated Book Club is simple. You suggest your favourite book(s), all the $2+ patrons can vote on which one they’d like, and I will create cover illustrations/designs for you to keep.
While I’m illustrating, you’ll get a link to a free online version of the books (oh, the books have to be “public domain”, i.e. probably one of the classics). [PUT A LINK TO A RECENTLY COMPILED LIST HERE FOR US TO CLICK ON – OPENING A SPREADSHEET IN A NEW TAB WOULD BE ENOUGH]
When finished, I’ll post the book covers here, and patrons will get [WRITE YOUR BEST ONE/TWO REWARDS]. Then, we’ll move on to the next book!
And I’ll just add – I also love the idea of an illustrated book club
Thanks for the advice - and the rewrite! I do tend to beat around the bush a bit when it comes to descriptions. I’ll have a think over you’re suggested edits and see if I can produce something in the same spirit.
Everything you have looks very compelling so far. I really like your intro video, love that you have images with each reward tier and everything is easy to follow. I normally suggest people have a lower first goal so it’s easier to get those first few patrons on board, but you’re already well on your way. It looks like you have a LOT of daily content. The only suggestion I would make is you might have an occasional regular public post to give potential patrons a sample, kind of a teaser to get them interested in seeing more and pledging. This is completely up to you as I think overall everything looks great.
Thank you very much! Yes, I was thinking of posting some “freebies” but I didn’t want the page to look too long o.o Okay, I’ll see what I can add. Thank you!
Hmm, Lochy, the graphic is only in PDF file version. I don’t have an editable version. It was designed by someone at Fiverr. But thanks for your feedback. I’m still looking into it.
Awesome, busk. Thank you. As I wrote to Lochy, unfortunately I can’t change the size of infographic crops because I don’t have the original file. I had the image created for me. But I definitely will be adding in my video and in writing what I can do to help my audience. Many of my subscribers have already said that I have helped them, so I want to make sure to emphasize that point. Thanks so much for your helpful feedback.
Hello there! I don’t really have any feedback… I think your page looks great. I just wanted to say that I love the whole idea of your Patreon page/your project, it is awesome!
