Creator page feedback

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m thinkin’ of doin’ a slideshow of my art and have some words scrolling in there. I wouldn’t be doin’ myself any favors by havin’ my voice on it. Ideally, I’d like to have a little animation, but that would take a lot of time, although… I could start with some keyframes and have a description between them and add inbetweens as I have time.

Hi Sarah! I really love your whole idea/quest!
Some suggestions that I have, and these are just my opinion, feel free to ignore them if you don’t agree haha ^^ And they’re just based on someone who just saw your page and have no idea what you are doing, as opposed to someone that already follows you.

  • I really liked your video! I realised this is the first part of the documentary? Maybe it would be a good idea to have a specific video for Patreon, or just a fast and small intro about the Patreon thing in the beginning of the video? Just a couple of sentences about what you are making and how Patreon works.
  • Perhaps add a photo or two in the overview/description, so that new people get an idea what it’s all about in just a glance.
  • Maybe show off what the stickers and tshirts (will) look like, in the reward boxes?
  • I love the Viking theme, so I’d love to see that incorporated into the art on your page, like the banner etc.
  • I may be a bit slow, but I’m not sure I understand how the rewards work? Also English isn’t my first language. What does this actually mean “a post expedition augmented reality show (as close to where you live as possible)”?
  • I see you have two usd25 rewards and saw why you have them, but I think you should get that fixed if you can so you can have only one 25 reward, to make it less confusing for future patrons  The easier to understand the better, I think.

Hope you found some of that helpful… Wish you lots of success with the Patreon page!

Megan! I loved your info-video! Different and funny and cute and informative.
I’d suggest posting a few more public posts, so that new people, and people that just follow you without pledging, will get some idea of what you do and what’s in it for them.

Would love to get some input on what I could improve on my Patreon page!
I’d rather get critique than no comment! xD
I’m also really curious to know what people want to see from me, what kind of rewards they’d like etc. I’m going to update the video soon, with a new timelapse video I’m working on, but maybe I should really have a Patreon-specific info-video hmmm…
Also I think my overview info text is perhaps way too long? I always struggle with keeping texts short, I want to include everything!
Here is my page: http://www.patreon.com/nymla

Nymla! Thank you for taking a look. This is awesome advice!! I just logged out of my account and viewed my page as if I were a newcomer. You are absolutely right. I’m going to get on this with some extra free posts to help entice people to sign up. Thank you!!!

Also - I looked at your page. The masks that you are creating are absolutely gorgeous and captivating. I got the chills looking through them. Beautifully crafted, wonderfully imaginative.

Happy I could help

Thank you sooo much! Very kind of you.

@nymla , first I’d like to say that your creations are eerily beautiful! Also, your photographs just seem really well done and the lighting and atmosphere very appropriate.

I have the exact same problem with keepin’ my text concise, so I will offer some suggestions there.

  1. I would perhaps take out mentioning other social media sites, but definitely keep in the section about them following your Patreon and all the free content they will receive that way. The goal is to keep them connected to your Patreon and then hopefully later entice them to pledge. If they are led to believe they will be getting all the same content on Instagram or wherever they originally found you, they may just find it more convenient to just keep following there instead. Let them believe they are gettin’ more content on your Patreon, even as a non-patron.
  2. You mention what Patreon will help you do in your intro which is great, but that’s the part I would cut down to a small paragraph and instead incorporate those things into your goals. Then you would still have it all included, but it would shorten your intro a bit. Maybe you could figure out what the amount is you’d need to make to upgrade to all eco-friendly materials/supplies and make that a goal. That would be a really powerful goal for you to push for and motivate new patrons.
  3. Just check for anytime you mentioned something twice. Figure out which is the more powerful way of saying what you want and keep that.

I hope some part of that is helpful. I feel like I need to go back over mine now and do some more trimming. I really like the way you had large, bold text in some places and I think I might incorporate that as well. Best of luck!

@o3oradeo3o I’ve just visited your page. I’m not an expert at all - actually, trying to find my way into a good Patreon page as well - but, let me give you some feedback from what I felt.

1st of all: Are those animated ilustrations creation of yours? Is that the way your storytelling happens? If yes, congratulations! Really great work! (I don’t know why, but at a 1st glampse, it’s not clear for me that that’s what your work is about - maybe, in some way, you could say/show “hey, this is what I do”.)

[I’m afraid I’m not being clear in what I’m saying so, if you don’t understand, I’ll be happy to explain you better what I feel)

If you could make a presentation video with everything you explain in your intro text, I think it would be really great and better to atract new patrons.

Anyway, you seem an inspiring artist!

Ooh that is some really great advice! Thank you so much for taking a look. Its late in Sweden so Im going to bed but will look into this in the morning ^^ Thank you, so helpful!

Had to say something more about your great advice now that I’m not half asleep ^^
I love that you pointed out that I should not direct them away from Patroen, but let them know they will get some extra content on Patreon even if they don’t pledge, I am going to try and post more public posts with some extra content.

I just struggle a little with what I should post on Patreon. It’s as if I feel that every Patreon post should be so well thought out and “serious”, and I hold back from just posting a random WIP photo, which I easily post all the time on for example Snapchat. Should I be posting more WIPs from my studio, on Patreon, I wonder?

I’ve now edited my text a bit but I don’t know if it got any shorter haha. But I will go back again and edit and look over my milestones/goals also, with your advice in mind ^^

I have so many ideas on rewards, but I can’t implement them right now, I would need a lot more patrons to be able to keep up those rewards I have in mind. I think I will have to focus on just growing my audience in general first and then I might do some kind of relaunch of the Patreon page, with the new rewards etc.

I didn’t have my WIP on Patreon until a few months ago. My patrons seem to really like them and I tend to get as much, if not more, feedback on them as the final piece. I suppose that makes sense as they’re there to help me progress as an artist they would like to see the process. I post all kinds of things on mine, basically any time I am doin’ something art related that I can get a picture of: my workspace, get togethers with other artists, supplies my patrons have helped me purchase, shows, etc.

I had the same issue with rewards. One I tried to do before I had enough patrons for it and I had to end it because it wasn’t feasible for what it cost and the time it was taking. I have a couple of my future rewards as goals as well. As a matter of fact, the goal I’m approaching next is to add a yearly bonus reward for all of my patrons and another goal after that will unlock a new reward tier. I think it’s good to have a lot of your early goals kind of close together to motivate you and your patrons.

I think my biggest challenge is getting the content out - _ - but I’m so busy trying to make money for life expenses it taking so long. release pages. Oh I had video but I took it down. Figure it was to silly but you guys can have peek.

I think some serious scrutiny is long overdue (I had my page for a year)

Yees, I love seeing behind the scenes stuff from other creators/artists! So that makes sense
It is a little tricky to set up great rewards to pull people in, but at the same time I need a certain amount of patrons to be able have some of those rewards, guess I just need a bigger following in general first. But yes, I’m totally gonna look over my goals also! Just have too many ideas, it’s hard to choose :stuck_out_tongue:
I wanted to give you some advice back, but couldn’t really think of anything hmm. Perhaps, if you can, you should make a personal intro video. And perhaps have a couple more photos of your art and/or you when drawing, in the intro/overview

Hey Nymla,

thank you so, so much for taking the time to leave feedback on my page, it really means so much that you took time out of your day to do that, so thank you.

I’ve been tweaking my whole YouTube channel, brand, and Patreon the past few weeks, so feedback is really helpful. I actually did have an intro video but others were not so keen on it, so I removed it and switched back to my weekly documentary series. But I’m looking to make a new and proper intro, as I think that is hugely important.

Photos are defo a great idea. I tend to share those with my patrons, but totally didn’t think about doing that in the intro section, so that’s a huge help.

I also just added the stickers idea as a reward, since I had concert tickets for my Royal Albert Hall show before, but I don’t think folks were very interested. I need to get some designed in line with the new branding, so I think that’s a really good idea to put the pictures in.

Looking to get a proper channel banner, so Vikings will be a good addition, especially now I’m more clear about the kind of content to create.

I’m creating an augmented reality show which consists of music composed for the show (about Vikings in Britain), interspersed with video footage from my solo row around Britain, and holographic Vikings and Viking Age objects. Its a little hard to explain that one:) It will take place in December next year after my expedition is finished.

The two tiers for $25 is a bit frustrating as I had an old reward which someone has supported, but then I wanted to offer something else instead, which is why I ended up with two. Not sure what I can do about that?? Question for Patreon I think.

Hopefully things will become a lot more clear in the next few weeks with the updates:)

I totally second that, your work is just amazing, and I would love to collaborate with you. Looking forward to following all your new creations.

Thanks, Nymla! I’m workin’ on an intro video, but I will definitely look into addin’ more art in the intro.

Ok, so here is my page. I know certain things that aren’t done yet (like the intro video), but I’d like to get any feedback for what I do have. C:
