Hey all! This is the first time I’ve posted here, so please excuse me if this is the wrong place for this but I’m out of ideas. I’ve contacted support several times over the last year about this and no one seems to have any answers.
Since I became a creator back in January 2019 I’ve noticed that on both the app and site, when I create a new post I can only type at most a paragraph before the text starts to lag and freeze up. When it starts doing this I have to stop and wait up to a minute for it to unfreeze and show what I’ve typed. It’s most noticeable in the app, but like I said the site does it as well. It’s so bad that the only way I can make a post is to type it in an email and copy/paste it into a post on the app or site. This is so annoying, as I’m sure you can imagine, because I love the Patreon platform and the idea of making posts on the go. But posts on the go isn’t a reality in my experience.
I only hope I’m not the only one experiencing this, and any advice is appreciated!
I’ve never experienced this in the desktop version outside of my older computer having a fit, which is sorta normal for an old computer.
The app though, yes, very much so. Holy moly. It’s a come and go sorta thing but when it happens it’s impossible to make a post. Every other app and browser works fine except patreon. It lags so hard sometimes that my screen populated the keyboard with all the button hovers of every one I’ve pressed until it is able to catch up. IF it catches up. I’ve had times where it’s so bad I have to stop and just resign myself to posting the post via desktop later. Which sucks and interrupts my flow.
I believe I have also sent in bug reports for this before but I don’t recall getting anything back either. It’s rather troublesome.
Thanks for the reply. At the very least I know I’m not crazy. You’d think this would be a priority, but I’ve been reporting it to support for over a year now. So frustrating. Kind of renders the app mostly useless.
I have this same issue always on my laptop, Adam - and I find the App VERY frustrating to use, so literally have only made a few Lens posts, But yes: lag and freeze on post texts, and MANY times I’ve had big probs updating my tiers, goals and profile: I fill in new text, and then the whole page freezes, and I eventually have to refresh, and I lose all that I’ve updated… Incredibly frustrating and blocking me communicating in an organic and spontaneous way with my beautiful people, so I’m grateful for you flagging this up here - I too have spoken with Patreon but never had it fixed.
I use Brave browser.
Hey Clare, thanks for sharing! Maybe if this thread gets enough traction we can actually get this fixed. What’s the point in having an app if and site if you can’t do the most rudimentary stuff on it, i.e. making posts for your patrons?
Yes! My frustration is in, I’d love to share more on Lens, but am never able to add text to the images, and I don’t like sharing purely photos with no words… I eventually gave up using the App, as I’d had to dis-install and then reinstall so many times!
Same here, unfortunately. Lens is hit and miss. I really hope they give the app an overhaul. I’d be able to post so much more, which would translate into more patrons, and more revenue for Patreon. No brainer.
