Promo codes made easy

Hey creators!

Who has an online store and has been thinking about offering promo codes to your patrons? How about anyone currently offering them and has patrons constantly asking “where’s my code?”

We’re announcing a new benefit feature make sure your patrons receive their promo code when they pledge to your membership.

Simply edit any tier, browse recommended benefits, and add a Promo Code. You fill in the simple details, and we’ll handle the rest. Your patrons will see it alongside their welcome note, in their My Membership tab, and have it delivered via email. No more need to send them via private message or posts.

If you need to edit a code, it’s no problem. We’ll notify your patrons on that tier automatically.

Head to your Tier Editor and edit any tier to check it out.

Will this be automatically checked as completed when the email is sent to the new/upgraded patron or will we have to mark it manually? If we have to mark it manually, can I make a request for it to be automatically marked as completed once the email is sent.

I notice it’s a one-time benefit. Can it be edited every month with a new code and sent out so to trip up the y.p crowd and their ilk?

I create promo codes that are unique to each patron who qualifies for them, so it’s easier to remove them once the patron is no longer pledged. I don’t see much use for a universal code for each level, that has to be changed and reissued each time a patron leaves.

Hi @Th_Mole - yes you can edit the benefit in order to update the code. Your patrons will received the new one via email as soon as you update it.

@lisavollrath - thank you for this input. Unfortunately right now the Promo Code benefit can’t support unique codes for each patron. I will bring this feedback to the team.

I just added a discount code to all my tiers, and one of my patrons told me they got five (5!!!) emails about it. Could you please look into this?

ETA: it looks like emails are being sent to every patron for ALL tiers, regardless of which one they’re a part of. Luckily for me it was the same code for everyone, but if I had different codes for different tiers, they would have been revealed to everyone.

Hmm, is it possible to implement codes that aren’t needed to be updated monthly? What if I’ve got something good for a quarter? The year? etc. (I guess i could use the welcome message but having folks get a reminder about their code each month it’s valid, would be amazing. People forget!!!)

Oh, yes! Thank you! Now I just have to -remove- the code from the tiered welcome notes!

That’s a good start. I suppose we’d also want to use unique codes per patron.
One thing we do is offer a discount on our “regular” products that depends on the time a member has pledged, 1% per month for a total of up to 12%.

This isn’t automatically completing for any of my patrons and I’m manually going in to click “complete” under benefits.

Hmmm @devenrue, that is odd. I will have the engineering team look into it. Could be a bug.
