Let’s be real, the forums have been significantly less active than they used to be. And often, posts are only responded to (maybe) if a staff member is informed of that post. Or a staff member posts a new pointless thread.
I get that there are things that companies can’t talk about or want to keep a surprise, but with Patreon’s reputation at this point, at least with creators, which are your direct customers, who should be who you cater most to–we get left completely in the dark, with that “behind the scenes” as the constant excuse. (How many years of “behind the scenes” does it take before we actually see something? Because it’s been years.)
We need SOMETHING. I am just so tired of platitudes and having the conversations being shut down.
At this moment, I’m not only not recommending Patreon to other creators, I’m actively telling them to NOT make a Patreon and go elsewhere.
I hope y’all are not surprised that none of us give a crap about Patreon’s new TikTok or dark mode for the app. Do better.
I will add that I appreciate the product newsletter. That’s a nice start, and I hope it continues and expands to give more information. (Including things like bug reports/updates would be cool, especially since a LOT of bugs have been around for several years now, and I know a lot of us would love to hear what’s going on about them.) I really hope it doesn’t go the way of the monthly chats with staff, where that just died off completely.
But to say I was disappointed in the contents of the email would be putting it very lightly. None of the bugs or features that have been mentioned over the years, again and again, were even slightly hinted at. No time tables, no acknowledgements, no nothing.
I hope this wasn’t referring to the product email. Because that gave zero information on product/feature requests. Can we get an update on this? It’s been 18 days since this was mentioned on the Discord.
i’m the same. got a few cosplayers in my DMs asking me about tips to starting patreon and i’m just begging them not to do it.
staff doesn’t post here, nor do they care about us, nor are they going to actually take our requests and complaints seriously. ever. i have absolutely zero hope left in patreon. it’s just being used right now to coast by until more folks start joining my other platforms.
Personally, I really like Patreon and wouldn’t like to go to another platform. But I really want them to be more active in implementing the most requested features, especially more payout methods because since some time I can’t use Payoneer in my country due to local laws limitations and there is a real probability that one day I won’t be able to use PayPal as well.
I like a lot of what Patreon has to offer too. I built my whole system around their service, so switching to another place would be quite inconvenient for me, which is why I haven’t done it yet. But I can at least stop people from starting to build their business here, and thus get in my same boat.
And I guess to reply to Hayley’s statement here, so my post won’t get deleted.
People are literally discussing Tiktok on that thread. I don’t know what to tell you, but that’s not off topic. I used to moderate for several forums for many years, and to us back then, off topic was, “I had a sandwich today, what did y’all eat?” and not, “Why was this prioritized over something else?”
I just literally don’t understand this animosity you’re having over discussions. Every time I see you reply to someone, be it on here or the Discord, you say it’s off topic and we need to stop talking about it. Just what in the world am I reading?
Some of these cases CAN be shared though. What don’t you have planned and why? I think most every other company I’ve ever seen has responded to feature requests that aren’t currently or ever will be on the road map. What features are? That’s a common response from customer service too. Just why is communication so hard for you guys, I don’t understand.
You’re acting like we need some massive compiled list, which would be great sure, but trickling it out would be more than what’s been happening the last few years as far as communication goes.
Those are two entirely different things, how is this a catch 22? The MARKETING team works on TikTok, customer service should work with the customers. Why would any of us be disappointed if the customer service started communicating with us, the customers, when that’s the #1 thing ALL of us have been asking for???
??? You don’t answer or respond to MOST of the threads on here. The ONLY times you post are when you share Patreon news, which is fine, if you were to ALSO be otherwise active on the forums. THAT’S what we’re talking about.
Also, the one time I go on the Discord to bring attention to the forum, I’m shut down because sharing a link without context, despite the context being right there in the link preview, was declared by you to be spam? I just…???
Customer service is 100% worth your time, because that’s how you keep a business thriving. This is like, business 101. You can have a terrible product, but amazing customer service, and you can build a great reputation. Amazing product, terrible customer service, no one will want to work with you.
This is literally blowing my mind.
I can tell you with certainty that the creators’ needs here haven’t changed. From the get-go, we just want this forum to be used as it was meant for–customer service. We want to be informed of what’s going on, have our questions answered, bug reports submitted, etc. The only thing that’s changed is Patreon’s needs. Which, I have no idea what those needs are at this point. Because no one says anything to us.
#1, we’re not needing a time line per-say, or an exact time line. #1 is that we need any acknowledgement at all. “I don’t know when this will be implemented, but it’s on our to-do list!”
#2, you can also still give the information without a time line, or say, “It may be next quarter, but I’m not sure yet. I’ll keep you posted.” Which at least gives us some idea of where y’all are at.
We want LITERALLY ANYTHING. There has been nothing but silence from Patreon for years now, and it’s only getting worse. It doesn’t have to be 100% accurate, it can be a guess, or a vague plan/direction, I don’t care at this point.
Good lord. I just don’t know what to say anymore. What happened to Patreon??
