Hey Lynne, thanks for your reply! In response to your last question, yes, the Patreon logo will continue to be in the top navigation on your page.
I’m sorry to hear you’re having a hard time adding images to your page. This help center article may help – if not, you can submit a request and someone from our community happiness team will reach out.
Agreed @tamberlane – we don’t want the banner to be too big and are hoping to strike a good balance.
It’s helpful to know that featured tags customization is valuable to you too.
For the custom color functionality in this design, you would pick the dark color and we would programmatically create the complementary light color. How valuable to you would it be to be able to pick a different light color?
Good to know the shorter banner makes it more challenging to make an image. We’re definitely looking for the right balance with this iteration.
thanks for echoing support for the custom image teasers and featured tag images as well
I really like the compact mode idea, and will share it with the team. Definitely agree that our current posts layout is not a good one-size-fits-all, and it an area of improvement for us.
The cover image seems way too big. You have to scroll down considerably to get to the rest of the page, and it seems to overshadow the other elements of the page, including allowing potential patrons to quickly and easily see your name and what you’re creating.
Also, our cover image was specially designed for us to fit the current space by a designer and if the dimensions need to change that will be a problem for us. The new larger size of the cover image not only places a lot of emphasis on it, but it may be a problem for many creators who don’t have a large, high quality image to use in that area.
I have been with you almost 3 years. I truly wish it was possible to hide the Patron count way back then. I can not wait for this option. I wrote countless times requesting to hide the pledges and this as well, so very thankful it is finally happening. This info really isn’t anyone’s business.
We are quite happy with the current dimensions for the banner image, especially as we had artwork designed for both of our campaigns that was designed specifically for those dimensions. We also feel that the current banner doesn’t dominate the page; a potential patron can easily see the other important elements of the page. We honestly don’t have anything at all that we could use if you made the banner much deeper.
Oh yas! I’m very excited about the color customization! Now I’ll be able to pick a main color to match my featured piece of artwork in the banner, instead of having to create a piece of artwork that goes better with the Patreon theme colors!~
Really loving the whole thing. So sleek and very well organized.
Hello,
Thank you for taking in consitderation our opinions. I can’t add much to what others has said already as creators so I will not go deep on that.
Do you think the new creator page layout would improve your page? Some people would love it, so far Im really used to the Patreon orange haha
Does the color customization do what you would expect it to do? No, being honest I do not find it that important for me so far.
What other customization features would be important to you? Would they be more important than these options? 1) BROWSING. As I said, there is not much I will add than others has already said BUT I want to add something from the point of view of my Patrons, wich are the ultimate and main custormers here and I continuely receive complains on the browsing system and how they would like it to be more friendly and “easy to find something” in the Post section. I have even received complaints that they don’t like to check Patreon because of that so I have to take the work of posting and later sending them a link to notify them I posted something for them (specially in the case of digital rewards). I cannot say they are lazy customers, they are even proactive and giving me a lot of feedback in and out Patreon.
2)POSTING: I would like a “Drag image” system when uploading a new post too. If possible not only for one image. Yes, I can upload the rest on the caption area but its not the same ;w;
I did a crappy edit of what I think would help to Patrons check the post section (or for interested visitors can have a preview of what they can find in our creators accounts and tempt them to become Patrons…??)
Thanks Scott - and for the article link. I’m fine with posts, it’s my intro that’s not receptive but thank you anyway Looking forward to seeing the customisation rollout! Have a great weekend.
@Noenoh – I first want to say, you’re awesome for creating those design mockups! I love the collapsible tiers idea and the post image gallery idea. I hope you don’t mind me sharing these with the team
To address some of your feedback and questions:
Post browsing is definitely a pain point for patrons. We’ve heard this from lots of creators and will be sure to improve on this experience.
We agree that adding multiple images to a post could be a lot better, and have plans to work on that.
Fortunately, these changes won‘t affect performance, so you don’t have to worry about your page becoming slower
@Scott thank you so much for your answer!
Im excited for you liking the collapsible tier idea (I had to avoid to add many details and pics on them because the higher priced tiers ended lost and had to scroll down too much and I was pretty sure my patrons/visitors wouldn’t check them)
I feel honored for you taking the design in consideration and showing it to the team.
The one thing that feels unfinished to me personally is the design of the “Featured Tags” category buttons. It looks like images with 500% blur, which doesn’t feel like it fits the crisp, clean look of the rest of the page. My gut says “Those look like placeholders.” (And if they are in fact placeholders, please ignore this post! Haha.)
Could it be set up so that, in the place where we define the categories, we could also upload an image for each one, that’s then opacity-ed back somewhat to make the buttons? Or could we at least control the colors of the buttons with a hex wheel? Or something else that’s similarly better-defined, graphically speaking, that allows that place on the page still to feel like an extension of our personal brand, integrated with the rest of the page?
Regardless, this feels like a big win overall. Really good job.
I love that Patreon is dedicated to changes and improvements. I do hope my comments are found to be helpful.
Banner:
love the creator icon and title moved
seems people would like some height options. i’m fine with whatever I need to work with.
or are we just not using the featured tags correctly and it already works like pinned posts?
Patron section:
yes to options to display patron count and dollar amount.
would like goals to have a patron count option.
Featured Tags:
I haven’t found the need for them.
I would prefer the option for “pinned posts” or something to focus on information that could reduce the length of the main post. Such as “how it works” “FAQs” etc.
Thanks, @hilljam! Currently, a featured tag shows the most recent image of posts with that tag – if the viewer has access to that post image, the image is not blurred, and if they don’t have access, the image is blurred. It sounds like lots of folks would like the ability to customize the presentation of featured tags, so it’s something we’re considering for future work!
Hey @aaronmiller – it’s very helpful to understand what’s important to you, so thank you for the feedback and ideas for things to add. I’ve shared these with the team
For your request to have a patron count option for goals, luckily that already exists! If you go to edit your goals and click on the “Edit” button on the right, you’ll be able to choose the “Community-based” goals option (you will need to delete any existing goals to make that change). Here’s an image showing you where to find the edit button.
