New Tier Added and Old Posts

Hi!! I recently added a new tier to include merchandise and I noticed that all the old posts will exclude that tier! And I have to go back and manually added the tier inclusion for the old posts! I have a lot of content so that take hours XD Is there a simpler way to do this?

With the really old post, it’s fine cause it states $10 and above so it will automatically includes the new merch tier which is $20. But with the new launch that allows us to specific what tiers get to view the contents, we have to go back and tick the box for the new tier!

Please help!

there is currently no way to batch edit old posts.

best i can think of is add ALL of your old content into a dropbox folder and link it for your new tier. you can include this link on your pinned post if you like. that way instead of scrolling thru loads of posts, they can just access the one dropbox file.

I see!! I have some patrons that only view the contents via the app and they have problem with dropbox. In any case, I went back to do it manually XD thank you for the advice!

This is a huge problem as I have hundreds of posts under the ‘old’ system and it’s flat-out impossible to fix them all. So I’m left with waiting for a complaint and then fixing that particular post. Otherwise I’d spend (literally) days trying to fix hundreds of posts…

This happened to me too. Luckily I didn’t have /too/ many to add at the time, but it’s really frustrating. I get the option of having tiers linked to posts instead of prices, but prices worked best for my page. I wish there was a way to switch back. It’s easier to organize your posts, add/change tiers, and what-have-you. Makes me hesitate to ever change anything in the future, since by now I have a lot more posts I’d have to fix.

This is my biggest complaint aside from the lack of search functionality. I have been wanting to add a special offer tier since the push to do it last year. But it makes no sense for me to do it if all my old content is excluded. I also have a ton of posts (over 300) that would have to be edited.

A batch edit feature for posts would be awesome. Last spring I spent several evenings updating my 300-ish old posts, because of new tiers. Never again.

Hey folks @sakurada_yana and others, thank you so much for sharing this feedback and thoughts around this, plus welcome to the forum @MiskasMaps

I have passed on this request to our product team. I wanted to note that this is also one of those issues that may be solved through making improvements to another area of the product - tiers. We encourage creators to experiment with new tiers and make changes, so we understand the frustration it causes when it’s not simpler or clearer what that truly entails. The team is aware of this and will continue to take it into consideration when deciding what to focus on next.

aaah I also had to edit every single individual post when updating for new tiers… it was exhausting, but there was no other choice, otherwise all new patrons would’ve been locked out of everything, or something like that.
The tier revamping worked great though :v:

I also am going to up vote this! I have a cartography class that I offered and keep updating on a regular basis. Every time I make a new tier that would have access to it, I have to go back and manually change over 30 posts. What’s worse is patrons who “don’t want to be a bother” waiting a long time to tell me they haven’t had access since signing up! I’ve had people message me after 3-6 MONTHS before telling me they can’t access a post! Now every time someone deletes their pledge with the excuse of not getting the benefits they wanted, I wonder if it’s yet another post lost to this tier system.

it’s one year later, I made a new tier and have the same issue  hundreds of posts to edit… sad reacts only

best I could do was to make a local custom CSS style to display posts in a grid to browse more efficiently.
It actually does a great job and saves a lot of time when searching for posts!

(I’m a NSFW artist so please excuse the censorship :v: )

I ended up just moving everything to my website and creating an automatic access/discount for my patrons based on their tier. I have things set up between Patreon and my website through Zapier. It’s not the most ideal solution but it works.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for bringing this up, it should be more simple to reprice/adjust tiers and have your back catalog content still be easily accessed by patrons. Right now, there are some tips and workarounds that could be helpful to make this go more smoothly, but we want to make this easier for creators in the future, so stay tuned for updates on this!

I appreciate the attempt to help, but that isn’t a workaround. That’s the literal issue we are experiencing. Having to update tens to hundreds of posts individually, at best, to make sure any new tiers have access to them.

A possible suggestion for this feature could be a “copy/clone” sort of thing, where you could either copy a tier or copy over posts to a new tier.

“Manually edit all the posts” is not a solution to our problem of having to manually edit all the posts for every new tier  I wouldn’t call that a workaround either. Thanks for checking back on us though, and good luck with future updates! Hope this can get addressed.
