I just checked and I do not see annual memberships available to me, even though I’ve had CUF enabled for over a year now and my Patreon has been running since at least 2016. Is there a way to request having this option available for us?

I turned on annual memberships and have been promoting it on the podcast (for which Patreon is set-up for) and I have seen good results - a lot of long-term supporters pledged annually and I have picked up several new people too.

I think the annual memberships are very helpful/beneficial.
If all of your patrons were to sign up on the same month with an annual membership, then you could have a more substantial drop or “churn” but that’s something you could budget for. Ideally you’d have new patrons joining each month with the annual plan and that potential loss in revenue wouldn’t be as steep as if all of your patrons joined during the same month.
The main benefits I’ve found and expect to find with annual membership are:
- More time to build a relationship with patrons before the payment cycle where they decide to renew/drop
- More perceived value to patrons (I’ve had people requesting annual memberships for more than 2 years, I think most patrons prefer to pay annually rather than monthly, and the option to set a discount is beneficial too)
(Full disclosure, have only had it for 1 month now so I’m fairly new to it all)
Speaking to your comment about too many options @johnoberg, decision paralysis can definitely be a concern but I think it’s best to address this one with simplifying tiers and rewards. And I think support-motivated patrons still appreciate the opportunity to donate annually.
