Hi all! If any of you are choosing to pause your campaigns, or hitting any blockers, we’d love to hear why! Share your thoughts here.
Hurricane Florence derailed all of my plans, so now I’m just trying to catch up with work on every front.
yeah that’s a really good reason.
Launching tomorrow morning!
I made good progress on the prep and then client stuff came up and I just didn’t get it done. I also missed the webinar – is there one this week to which I could get an invite? – which threw off my mental scheduling a bunch.
We’re launching on 1st Oct because our special offer is an exclusive podcast made at and about an event which takes place in mid Oct, so it made more sense to promote the special offer in the two weeks leading up to it.
The downside is I won’t get to go through the process with all of you. Thank you for letting me lurk and hoover up your insights here.
That sucks Jordan. I hope you and your loved ones are ok?
We’re fine, thank you! Just lost time getting ready for the storm, then during the storm, and now I’m scrambling to catch up on pretty much everything.
My desk got piled high with an unexpected (but good!) project at my day job, so I’m hanging back and going to give this a try when I’m back to my normal schedule, hopefully next month. I didn’t want to do it half-assed. Thanks for letting me hang out and learn from what everyone else is trying!
Brian
@jordanlhawk Stay safe! Your wellbeing comes before work.
@amysnotdeadyet here’s the links to the previous livestreams, I’m not sure if @laurab is doing another one, I’ll let her respond
@rachelfordlackey don’t worry, you can learn from others as they experiment!
@mindy Seeing all of these new posts got me motivated! I had done a bunch of the prep, so it wasn’t a ton of work to get everything up and start promoting it. I still need to do the full marketing plan worksheet, but otherwise everything is moving along. Thank you!
AMAZING! that is so great to hear, thank YOU! can’t wait to see your offer
I’m finally ready to launch - I was delayed because I had JUST wrapped up a previous crowdfunding campaign at the end of August and needed to find a new niche for rewards which didn’t feel like I was retreading the previous offerings. And I wanted to finish the art so people know what they’ll be getting,
I polled my Patreon supporters to vote on rewards and they were evenly split between a solid metal pin and an art print with their names - so i’m making a pin with a larger backing card with their names (i’ll put their first names on the spine of each book in the background).
These will cost me $3 each + postage and i’ll be sending them to existing $1 supporters - some have supported me for two years and i’ve wanted to show my appreciation.
To bring the pin costs down, i’lll making 300 pins - far more than i’ll need but will make a subset of them different for this campaign. i’ll make gold versions for this campaign and the remainder will be silver to sell from my site, comic-cons, and offer in other crowdfunding campaigns moving forwards.
But the gold version will be special.
Here’s the tier art…
I use charge-up-front and will start the campaign immediately and run it until Oct 10. (i like ending crowdfunding on Wednesdays)
Wish me luck!

Hey @amysnotdeadyet- sorry for my delay seeing this. you can watch the regular webinar, but we will also be running this program again as a group in November, so at this point, it might make the most sense to hold for a month and then join us in the next round. What do you think?
@jordanlhawk - oh nooo!! I’m happy to hear you’re all right. If the timing doesn’t work out this round, we will be working together again in November on a Special Offer program, so you can join us then. I’m so sorry about the storm.
Sounds great @BrianJamesFreeman- looking forward to our next run!
Thank you! We were much luckier than a lot of people. Right now I’m just following along what others are doing, and hopefully will be ready to roll come November!
I had to wait till I hit the road—I’ll be sending out postcards to folks at the $10 level, and I’m intending to send them from interesting places while out on tour. That means waiting till next month
I’ve announce the special tier, though, and the response has been very positive. Looking forward to implementing.
A quick question on that, by the way: I have several people already giving at $10+ levels, but there hasn’t been a tier for that before. How do I change them over to the bonus tier, to make sure they get the new benefit?
Thanks!
Hello @colinwright! Awesome to hear that you’ve had positive responses to the new tier. If you have patrons who are already electing to pledge at or above $10, you can find them in your Patron Relationship manager. I would start there and click Patrons --> Relationship Manager --> sort by pledge amount. That way, you can get a list of the patrons who have been contributing at that level historically.
Quick question - are you panning to keep the $10 tier past the time of the promotion? If you close it out, you’ll potentially lose those new patrons. I think it would be great to come up with something that could be a long-term tier that can retain patrons. Maybe you add a tong-term $10 or even a $5 tier and let them know that as long as they pledge they’ll be getting some new added value?
