Followers list?

I know this was directed at Temrin, but I have tried similar limited promotions in the past, with little to no success. I think it was because I probably had a lot less followers and even 36 is low for that kind of effort. I’m sure there is a point in follower count where that kind of promotion will be very successful. Now that I can see my number of followers I think I might hold off on a conversion promotion again until I have at least 100 and right now just focus on building up followers. Regardless of the number being high or low, knowing it is very helpful!

Definitely - limited time rewards can also be advertised via social media or email campaigns - it doesn’t have to be just for followers! Let me know what you end up trying to increase your follower count… I’m always interested in learning from y’all.

Yuppers! I do post quite a lot of public posts and events as well. As for limited time rewards, i doh ave those a couple times a year (like during Inktober i have had free extra artwork available to all patrons, even $1, where they can get their characters drawn as part of Inktober, for that month only.) I also had my book available through patron tiers for a while as well, which are no longer available there but available on my digital stores. (Inktober was honestly the only one that turned out okay so far but many patrons didn’t actually stay after.)

I would love more features for limited time only tiers, with a setable end date. That would be amazing

:100:% agree. This would be a great tool for anniversary promos and any other time a creator wants to do a short term promotion.

Hi @erin. Are there any plans to make new followers something that registers in the notifications system?

Great suggestion! The short answer is no… but… I’m now adding it to my list!

If I check “Followers” and uncheck “Active Patrons” I still get a number of what appear to be active patrons (status listed as “Paid” and an amount under “Lifetime”). Does this mean these were followers who have now converted to patrons?

I think when someone becomes a patron it automatically adds them as a follower as well. It seems to me the active patrons checkbox is so you can look at your active patrons on their own and doesn’t subtract them from your followers as they are followers too. They are in both categories, if that makes sense.

Hmm, but if that was the case, then wouldn’t I have at least as many followers as I have patrons? I definitely have more patrons than I have people who come up when I check “Followers” and uncheck “Active Patrons.”

It may be that some of your patrons have changed their settings so they are not getting your emails, which would be essentially the same as unfollowing. They’re still patrons, but not active followers.

Hey there! I think there are likely two things happening:

  1. Awhile back when a patron would delete their pledge, Patreon automatically added them as a follower. This has since changed, but anyone who deleted their pledge while it worked that way is still a follower.

  2. It’s still possible for former patrons to choose follow you

So, as long as you’re seeing a lifetime value but not a current pledge value when you filter down to followers, you’re seeing former patrons. I know this is a little confusing right now, and the team just decided to add labels to the rows to make this a bit more clear. They’ll be working on that soon!

Oh, I think I see what you’re saying. So they are former patrons, even
though their status is listed as “paid.” That is a little confusing.

Agreed - the status is meant to reflect the last bill, but… we should perhaps rethink whether that column makes sense!

Hey @erin , do you guys have plans on adding blocked users to that options list, since it also shows fraud, declineds, former patrons and followers now?

Thanks!

Great question! So… we don’t currently have plans, BUT I will say it’s a trend we’re seeing in survey responses on that page. It’s definitely something I’ve been thinking about.

What would you want to do with a list of blocked users? Or what information would you need to see?

Among with other things, having lists of blocked users that I could share with my fellow creators could improve our own frustrations on dealing with unpleasant supporters.

Oh, and since blocking is currently the only way of deleting supporters, some of them may have been stuck blocked for the wrong reasons.

Either way, if creators could access this information, they could handle blocking and blocked patrons in better ways.

Cool… yeah I think adding back an ability to remove patrons without having to block them is reasonable as well. Thanks for going into a bit more detail for me!

I would second that. Some remain patrons although their payments decline month after month. You don’t necessarily want to block those people, so it would be good to have the option to remove their support, perhaps thereby generating an automated message? This might then prompt them to restart their support, but if not at least they’re not falsely inflating the current patrons list.

oh btw @erin, on a related note:
Automatically removed users of patreon (obvious fraud flags) are still kept as supporters on creators patron managers, which makes us have to go there and manually block them to remove their pledges.

It would be useful if Automatically removed users had their pledges also removed automatically.
Thanks!
