Hi. I’m a creator from the EU, and on EU creator FAQ I found something like this:
“The U.S. requires that we report all users to whom we transfer more than $20,000 and who are “U.S. citizens or who we have reason to believe are U.S. citizens.” A person paid in USD would give rise to the assumption of U.S. citizenship, which we can rebut with a completed form. In other words, the form is a mechanism to prove non-U.S. citizenship.”
So, in this case if I decide to be paid out in Euro or any other currency than USD, my W8-Ben won’t be reported to the IRS? I declare patreon earnings in my country, so why would it need to be done twice, if payout would be not in USD?
I’m just simply curious what situation would be better for someone based in the EU.
