Display a Patron's OVERALL Months Active

I want to be able to quickly view how many months an individual Patron has been subscribed to my Patreon for. Preferably, this would be visible from the Patron Relationship Manager, so it could be sorted by longest or shortest. The total amount of months would reflect the account’s entire history with me: counting every month they have been charged for, even if they skipped a month. Currently, the only way to determine their overall length is by their join date, their payment history, lifetime pledge, and a counter in the chat interface.

For example, if they joined in January and have stayed subscribed in June, then it should display that they have been part of my community for 6 months. If they joined in January, skipped February, and rejoined in March all the way to June, it should display 5 months.

This feature would be useful for creators who want to offer special rewards to members who have been subscribed for a certain amount of time. I want this feature because there is no easy way (that I’ve found) to sort Patrons by their length of subscription. I can’t use the date they joined because it does not account for any months they may have skipped. I also can’t use their lifetime pledge because my Patrons switch between tiers often, so going by their total money given would not work.

I have reached 6 months with my community now and want to send out a reward for everyone who has been with me for 6 months. Additionally, I want to send my 6 month reward to anyone who has pledged for a total of 6 months, even if they have a skipped month. That means that in July, there will be people receiving this reward if they have been in the club since February or skipped only one month after January, because they were a Patron for 6 total months non-consecutively.

So as the year goes on, I will send out this half year reward to everyone who meets this criteria. This will become more difficult as time goes on, as people skip months, without a feature like this. It will be especially difficult if I run my Patreon for over a year, so people could feasibly skip many months or join later in the year, so using the join by date will become useless as well.

I can go by their join date right now, but like I mentioned earlier, I don’t think it accounts for any breaks they took. I know that I could also check each Patron’s individual payment history, but the interface is too difficult to check every person and would be a huge time-consuming activity to check every month for people who have made 6 successful payments. I’ve only seen the counter in the messaging interface, but I also won’t be going through each chat with every message.

This feature seems very possible, since Patreon should/does know this particular piece of information, and I hope it would be easy to implement. Thank you!

If anyone does know a way to quickly determine multiple Patrons total months subscribed (inclusive to non-consecutive), please share! I have asked other artists running clubs similar to mine and have not heard a useful way that achieves this.

You might want to email support or suggest this on Discord. None of the staff check the forums anymore.

Aw man, thanks for letting me know! I also hoped that maybe someone else would know a method already, though like I said, none of the artists I talked to seemed to know either.

This is a great point as the join by date only grabs when they most recently joined - not when they had initially joined.

From what I’m gathering, you are hoping to see something that shows the number of successful charges/months the patron has paid for - regardless of if they were in a row or not?

Yes, that’s right! So even if someone is only subscribed every other month for a year, I should be able to see that they were a patron for 6 months. It would be useful for my goals to sort Patrons by their total active months over their entire history with me, even when it’s not consecutive.

I could think of some other good uses for this feature, but I mostly think this feature will help a lot of creators that offer loyalty rewards. I ship physical products each month.

Hi there,

Thank you for the feedback, we’re taking it into account as we plan any potential updates to Patron Relationship Manager and Benefits Tracker. A lot of creators have suggested making it easier to deliver benefits to patrons who have pledged more than a certain number of months.

Best,
Brian
