Discourse vs Discord? - new blog from Discourse

Our creator team (Amanda Palmer) uses a Discourse for our patrons to connect, reminiscent of our old school message board forums of the early 2000s. We’re currently in the process of launching a Discord for patrons to meet the desire for instant connection and immediate correspondence for patrons to connect with us and to each other.

Discourse - the forum platform this very space uses - just released a really interesting blog about the two services, how to use them in concert with one another and how to distinguish them from each other based on what your community needs are. I thought I’d pass this along in case anyone else can benefit from the tips and thoughts in this piece, whether you already have both a Discourse and a Discord for your patrons or if you’re thinking about setting one or the other up, check out this great resource as you plan your strategies:

Ah cool! Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve got a Discourse-based Forum that is for general public and patrons, but I’ve also been asked about Discord and playing around with it. Had been looking for this kind of reflection.
