Thanks; I’m glad to hear it!
Any info about being able to see the “Estimate Earnings” per post that’s gone in the new system?
Thanks for these updates! Another “lost feature” from the old Relationship Manager that we’re missing for our workflow:
Previously the notes section showed up in the rightmost column, and if a declined patron didn’t have any notes attached to them it meant that their credit card had newly declined that month (because we add a note with the date when we’ve messaged a patron about a credit card decline). Now it’s much harder to tell who had their card newly declined this month, i.e. who we need to message, since this notes column doesn’t show up automatically.
(Btw, all of my other online services send me an email the month BEFORE my credit card declines reminding me to renew it, so there’s no gap, since of course they know that it’s coming up. Is this something Patreon could consider automating for us? It might help reduce/prevent “the drop” that happens at the beginning of every month.)
Thank you!
I also find “completion status” an important function. Thanks for mentioning this!
I still do not see anything about an easy way to just view the i.e. 200 out of 230 pledges have been processed. Where is that feature now located?
One thing I would like to see carried over in this change is the ability to select and message multiple patrons without selecting the entire list. To explain, with the old patron manager, I can go to a specific tier (or all tiers) and check the boxes multiple individual patrons, then send a message to all of them. In the current relationship manager, when I click a patron, the screen grays out, and I’m limited to sending a message to just that one patron, forcing me to repeat the message over and over. So long as the checkbox feature is still there, then I don’t see a problem with this change.
- What would you like to see improved with your patron management tools?
Being able to search patrons by their real name since their real name is probably different than their username. It’s hard to cross check patreon when I have a question regarding their shipping in my shipping software. If I see someone named Julia having an issue with their address, I can’t find out who they are on Patreon. I can if I expand the address list and ctrl+f and search Julia, but now the address isn’t visible in the new Patron Manager…
I need to know who is actually a new patron or not. Show somewhere what their initial first time ever subscription month was. If a patron is showing “patron for 16 days” that only seems to count for their current streak, when they could potentially have initially joined a year ago for only a month.
Why does the new patron manager have pagination? I can’t search for people when I have to go next and next and next…
- What are some things you wish Patreon made easier when it comes to managing your patrons?
Not having a multiple ways to find information on a person. I have to cross check patron manager to find addresses and relationship manager to see which month they paid or didn’t pay for.
- How are you currently using your patron management tools? Especially the features that are critical to running your business.
Critical is being able to export CSVs. Patreon does almost nothing else for me.
- What other info would make connecting with your patrons easier?
THREADED DMs. I can never tell if I’ve messaged someone or not.
Great news that the team is working on adding “Mark Complete” to the relationship manager. I’m glad the voices in this thread didn’t go unnoticed
Still don’t see an answer to this and trying to use your relationship manager as you want as a test run today is an epic fail. I still have a patron marked as “declined” even though they have paid and the regular manager shows this but relationship manager does not. Also still no option on relationship manager to see a quick count of X # of patrons have been processed. very very very disappointed.
I don’t know when it happened, but my new favorite Patreon relationship management feature is ‘see all payment history’. Nice!
Things I would like to stay the same: these fields displayed are very useful: email, lifetime, status + last charge date. I also like being able to see the most recent charges easily when I click a user. Being able to easily search by email is quite handy.
Mostly I pull data from the API so I only check Relationship Manager when something goes awry with the script or someone needs support, but being able to see those fields above and the charge history helps me debug what’s going on.
Name is only useful ~25% of the time since people often use a different name between our website, patreon, their e-mail client, and discord. Being able to set a project-specific nickname when a user links their account via API would be neat, but not necessary in practicality since e-mail is easy enough to reference instead.
One stat that isn’t critical from the old manager (I didn’t realize existed until just now) is the total lifetime earnings. I don’t think that total is displayed anywhere else, unless you manually sum up the data. It’s not an essential stat at all so probably wouldn’t make sense on the dashboard, but maybe somewhere in income stats? Seeing it all summed together does kind of subtly remind me of Patreon’s importance to my business.
This last one is regarding the unread benefits indicator, so a bit tangential, but: All of my benefit granting is automated, so I’m not sure how to mark benefits that don’t require manual action.
i have to mark person 1by1 to send message, and have to put stupid filters to find Completed, Tiers,
not a fan… , i dont like putting filters on it makes me click more and the layout is far bigger compared to old patron manager.
for example.
i have 96 $10 Patrons. , yes i can send Message to 96 people
but to mark complete, I have to mark ALL OF THEM 1 by 1.
Can we please have the function from the old manager, where we can select processed patrons/ declined patrons, and then mark them as complete?
I can’t work with the new manager because it only allows me to message the entire list that’s showing.
My usual routine is send out rewards via message to all the paid patrons on the 1st of each month (select only processed patrons to send message. fast and easy), mark them complete, and then check back throughout the month for newly processed patrons who was declined before or just joined to send them rewards.
There’s no way to select just the newly processed patrons using the new manager and filters. I can sort the list by ‘last charge’ and can narrow it down by tiers, but the only option is still message the entire list of paid patrons. Which is rather frustrating and waste of time. I can finish sending out rewards in under 5 min using the old manager but the new one takes much MUCH longer.
I still don’t get why the old manager had to go. It was rather adequate.
Hi! Whom do I panic at? It looks like the new “improvement” blows away the only functionality I actually wanted and used, and I’m freaking out that it doesn’t look like the “replacement” has really anything to do with the thing it’s replacing? Like I read through all the doc and the FAQ for how to use the new system and none of it even refers to by-post data??
I don’t care about by-patron information. I care about by-post information. I care about seeing a list of posts, and how much was pledged for that post and how much has been collected. Where do I get that if not the wildly-missnamed “old patron manager”? I have, by the way, had to literally print that out and present it to a social service agency to prove my income to them, because that was all the documentation of that info you gave us. I don’t know if the 1099-K you send out now would cut it.
And where else can I get the information of how much each post of the month has pledged? Are you guys aware that some of us higher-frequency by-post creators have very interesting drop-offs in pledges across the month, so it’s super useful to know how much the next several creations have pledged? And the “Old Patron Manager” is apparently the only place that information appears?
Is there a reason the comparison screenshots don’t show a by-post example? Or is it that even by-post creators will have their information presented (uselessly) by-month?
Help?
I agree, that information is useful to per-creation creators. Though as it works right now, it seems to be a total of all pledges, not taking into account the declined patrons, so it’s usually pretty off. A more accurate version of this information would be super useful to us.
The old Patron Manager breaks my patrons down very cleanly and elegantly into my tiers, listed just like I want them to be, with all the information I want at a glance.
The new thing is very hard to read, does not seem to have the ability to break pledges apart clearly by tier in a single clean list, and apparently just to try to list things by tiers and month at all will require fiddling with multiple widgets.
I’m sure the new thing has some features some people have been asking for, but I haven’t and I will miss the old Patron Manager a lot. Some specific reasons:
-
The new thing is lots of white space everywhere, which is hard on the eyes and difficult to scan accurately. The old Patron Manager breaks things down in easy to scan colors and boxes.
-
The new thing cuts off names and email addresses, among other things. Names are kind of important to see in their entirety. And I actually copy and paste the email addresses as I go down my list for email rewards, to be sure I’m getting the latest email addresses people have registered. Can’t do that with the new thing, at least not without opening their separate info panel or something. What is the point of showing a partial email address? And no I don’t want to click it to send an email from my PC’s default email program, I use gmail specifically for these emails. (Also, clicking an email currently opens both a new email from my default email program, which is not wanted, and the Patron side info panel. This is messy.)
-
Seriously, the new list is killing my eyes. You can’t just have this mass of white space.
-
As mentioned, the old Patron Manager breaks pledges down by tier, very clearly into separate containers. This is the single most important distinction, but the new thing doesn’t do it, everything is just smashed together, making it much harder to read and use accurately.
-
The old Patreon Manager shows “Processed” or “Declined” in color-coded type that really jumps out, as it should since this is rather important. In the new thing, it’s all just small black text in the huge white space, and not at all easy to catch.
-
In the old Patron Manager, I could click a box for an entire tier, and from that, a menu would come up allowing me to pick whether I wanted to select everyone (in that tier), deselect everyone, select only processed patrons, or select only declined patrons. This function is not present in the new thing; instead, each time I wanted to do something like that, I’d have to filter the entire list by both tier and charge status–and then back again when I wanted to go back to the full list–which is much less convenient.
-
In the new thing, scaling the browser window to less than oh 1000 pixels wide or so completely breaks the display: all that is visible is a widely vertically spaced list of names on the left.
This switch over is going to make my job harder. (Old) Patron Manager is the key working interface I use with your service. Please pay more attention to interface design and usability. The new things smacks of cheap, generic design, not at all tailored to its actual use case–at least, not mine. Nothing in this new design helps me. Nothing.
16 days later and still no response to why we are losing the KEY piece of data we use when running per-creation campaigns.
Come on, you answer the other requests, but once again ignore the per-creation creators.
I’m concerned it’s not a lack of caring, but rather a more active regret of having introduced the option at all. I’m worried they’re getting tired of the challenge it is to support in their user interface, and maybe they’ll decide to retire it entirely.
It seems to me there’s two ways to look at the by-creation model. I don’t think it’s possible to be neutral about it, because it is super weird – no other platform supports it, even a little – and truly is really, really complex to integrate into user interfaces. It probably costs Patreon considerably more in developer time than by-month, and probably seriously frustrates a bunch of things they might want to do. So one can look at the glass as half empty and say, “Ugh, what a hassle. By-creation just makes everything hard and complicated for us. Wish it would go away.” Or one can look at the glass as half full, and say, “This is part of our secret sauce which differentiates us from the competition and makes us better for users.”
I really don’t get the impression that Patreon has the second stance, which has me worried about the future of the by-creation model. Even if Patreon doesn’t decide to kill it off outright, it could just neglect it to death, which is what removing the interface that lets creators tell how a by-creation campaign performs sure looks like.
Yeah, we set up our whole campaign around the per-creation model, which was the model back when we started our campaign. We’ve got patrons that we’ve had for 6 years now, and it would be rather a mess to try to convert everyone and everything to a monthly model. It is a bit nerve-wracking to think that they might force us to at some time.
OMG The new updates added ALL the things I need to send out rewards now. It’s ordered from the most recent purchase automatically, the checkboxes for selecting things are back! I don’t see where to mark things complete in the manager itself – however, because the benefits tracker and the relationship manager are much easier to compare now, I can mark the benefits as complete with the same confidence as with the old system.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This was a HUGE relief to log into Patreon and see.
I hope you per-creation creators, and others still waiting, get the tools you need too.
Hello! Not sure if someone said this before (didn’t see any messages about this, but if it’s already here: sorry)… but it would be great to be able to click on a patron and see the email in the individual patron page. Right now I have to go to the patron manager to search for the name and see the email, which is ok, sure, but since there already is apage for the information of each patron, it would be great to have more info there (email at least).
Thank you!
