I am experiencing a bit of trouble, with Vimeo. I am trying to make a new video post for my patrons. I have uploaded it to Vimeo as usual, let it process etc etc, and the private link does not seem to work.
When I copy/paste the link in the designated area, nothing happens (no preview or anything). Even upon completing the post, I cannot publish it because Patreon doesn’t seem to “see” the video. All settings are correct as usual, on Vimeo…
What am I doing wrong? Is anybody else experiencing this, or am I just a goof?
I noticed this as well on Sunday and it is still the same this Monday morning here in the UK. Anything I have scheduled which are for my Vimeo video links are not showing and are not being recognised. Why is this Patreon? I have a lot of very upset Patrons. Now I have to upload everything again to YouTube as unlisted, people can still copy the tutorial links there, (hence using Vimeo privately), which is a massive pain especially on a very slow upload speed! Ok, so I am not alone. That is reassuring. I am terrible at understanding computer program logic. As long as it works, all is well, but is something goes South, then I lose it…
I am also running late now. I will try that “unlisted Youtube” technique. It should serve well as a temporary solution. Thank you for your input.
Hi all, thanks for writing in! We have identified issues with posts that attempt to embed links within them, specifically Vimeo. We’re working on it as we speak!
Hi @B_J_Parker - We’ve updated this help article with trouble shooting tips (scroll down to the FAQ!) for Vimeo. Please let me know if these tips do not solve the issue!
I’m also currently experiencing vimeo video uploads. It uploads fine but the embed code seems to be broken, no video is displayed. I’ve checked in mt Vimeo account and all has uploaded ok. Is this a known bug?
Hi there, buddy.
it has happened to me a few times since then. I ended up cancelling my Vimeo account, and I now post videos on YouTube. The ones reserved strictly for patrons are only accessible to them if I choose to do so, and I can let them watch each new release before making it public, if that should be the case.
It makes things much easier to handle, having all my videos in one place. I am not much of a tech wizard, so I like to keep things simple.
I tried again last week with a friend who is not a patron (shame on him! haha), and he could not access the content. If you set it to private, you should be good. If you set it to ‘unlisted’, anybody who has the link can view it, so you definitely do not want to do that.
I only have two patrons so far, so it seems safe enough and works for me. If you have the link to where you read that, I would be interested in digging a bit, for good measure.
