It looks promising, though right now they do not have tiered membership. It’s marked as ‘in progress’ and due in February on their enhancement request tracker.
I’m absolutely going to check it out once the tiered memberships are available. The ability to have ‘one-off’ AND subscriptions is a sufficuent reason to switch.
Just checked it out, I hate the domain name ‘buymeacoffee’, but otherwise it’s super smooth and looks promising! I have huge problems with Patreon’s post editor, so I’ll take theirs for a spin and see how it works. I also like how you can gift memberships and offer one-off donations for those who don’t want to support monthly. Win win!
Things Patreon could easily have done by now, if they actually cared.

Well, I downgraded my membership today and finally rid myself of the hassle that is merch when I realized the ONE person who qualified wasn’t even getting her items. I’m battling some serious health stuff and honestly dealing with all of the hassles with Patreon is not high on my priority list anymore. But I did want to add that a lot of what they say we get when we choose our plans and features are NOT offered. I never had any dedicated partner to assist me with my merch needs, I’ve never had one bit of conversation with anyone who works for Patreon. And I’m just really disappointed. You can say you’re just here to help us collect tips but that’s simply not how it’s advertised. The features are pathetic, the connection is insincere and lacking, and I’m sad about having to find or make an alternative because this just isn’t working or going anywhere for me.

The platform itself is great. Just hard to port people from Patreon over: They offer free memberships (so you can enter your patrons’ emails to give them free access to your BMAC), but there’s no time limit on them, so you’d either have to manually kick off your patrons’ free access after however long of time, or just let them be indefinitely free members.
