Hey there, we’re Shawn & Aaron and we do a comedy/politics/philosophy/science podcast called srsly wrong ( www.srslywrong.com )

We’ve recently started doing patron-only episodes as a means of increasing subscribers and it has been a great success - we’re now up to enough money to pay Aaron to do our editing (which is the most time consuming part of the show) - i guess our ultimate hope would be to displace our jobs through content creation.

Interested to learn what there is to learn and participate in the community.

Hello, and thanks for inviting me to the community!

My name is Hugo and I’m a Brazilian actor, performer and visual artist. My main line of content here on patreon is related to the “100 NUDE Shoots (of Hugo)” project, where I’m in the process of being portrayed NUDE in 100 photoshoots by 100 different photographers, each with their own unique view on nudity. Each shoot is used as a base to discuss matters and issues related to body image, human and social bodies, social and individual liberties, censorship, diversity, role of the art, aesthetics, etc etc etc. You can check my work out on Patreon here: patreon.com/100nudeshootsofhugo

Hope to be able to learn and also share knowledge with you here!

Welcome, Shawn (and Aaron) and congrats on the success so far! That’s awesome that you’ve been able to earn enough to pay for the more time-consuming aspects of creating. I’m excited to see where you go from here.

What a cool project. Welcome, Hugo!

Hello Patreon Peeps,

My Name Is Daniel Ibbertson AKA Slope’s Game Room

I make short documentaries on Youtube about gaming histories past as well as the odd weird story that you may never heard.

Like for instance did you know the inspiration for Ecco the dolphin came from a drug taking scientist from the 60s-70s who was paid by nasa to get dolphins to speak? Well ya do now

Either way, I am here to learn how I can push my Patreon further and gain more followers, this last week I added a simple 4 second clip at the beginning of my video asking fans to donate if they like what they see and instantly got 3 new Patreons! <— More stuff like this please :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

All the best
-Dan

Hello there everyone, I’m Sid. I run a YouTube Gaming channel that focuses on Industry commentary and critique. My channel has grown massively from 2k YouTube subscribers at the beginning of the year to over 64k as of today. Fingers crossed, I might be able to go full time by summer next year!

To that end, I’m hoping to be able to find collaboration opportunities with other channels and content creators in a fun and open environment.

If anyone’s interested you can check out my YouTube channel at https://YouTube.com/SidAlpha

Thanks!

Hi hi! I am Mike. My current main hobby is writing and maintaining a discord bot that has been growing for the last two years! It’s a thing I like to do next to my university studies, and together with patreon it has been actually funding my school which is amazing!

Anyone’s in need of a cool bot, check out https://miki.ai

Thanks for reading

Hi there my name is Kitty Quinn, Im an artist, model, gamer, cosplayer, etc. My patreon is focused mostly around getting help with cosplay builds and photography equipment and I reward my pledgers with sets, vlogs, and prints. It has been soon about a year I have been apart of Patreon, and I am struggling to reach my first goal. My rewards change every month and I am hoping that I can finally find rewards I can settle on that make me feel like I am giving back enough to my pledgers, and that I can handle to give. I also really want to grow, even if I get $1 pledges it would be super awesome! So happy to be apart of this community

Hi all, I’m a life coach, mediator, bodyworker and writer and I specialize in helping people understand how power affects their lives and bodies. I cowrote the book Access to Power: A Radical Approach for Changing Your Life.

I am using Patreon to switch to online teaching from hourly 1:1 work. My teaching platform is Ruzuku and I love Abe and the folks there. If Patreon was to integrate with Ruzuku, I would be stoked!!!

I’m using Patreon as a subscription service for my online classes, and so far I’m reaching my own constituency of clients and friends. I hope to reach strangers at some point and am happy to receive feedback on what people who don’t know me would need to see/learn/know in order to engage.

My Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/nancyshanteau

My website: http://www.nancyshanteau.com/

My book: http://www.nancyshanteau.com/access-to-power.html

I just started a class called Cooperative Communication that will run for 13 months. I’m planning a two-week class on Decision Making to start in December, and will run a Quiet Mind class in January.

Cooperative Communication: https://app.ruzuku.com/courses/24927/about

Thanks for being awesome creators! I’ve helped other folks create Patreon pages: direct funding is radical and awesome and I’m so happy this community of artists exists to support each other! May we all receive what we need to make all the THINGS!!!

Cheers,
Nancy

Hi, my name is Rebecca Loebe!

I’m a full-time touring songwriter from Austin. I launched my Patreon page on August 17th and have been working hard to release 1-2 new pieces of content per month and trying to get new folks on board as I go.

I’ve been really enjoying it as a way to share new work directly with my most enthusiastic supporters. The potential of getting paid decent money for songwriting is really exciting, too.

I’m interested to use the forum to connect with other creators, hear about your successes and challenges and figure out how we can help each other.

Does anyone have any advice for getting out of a subscriber plateau? Any advice?
I felt like I had a good initial pop and that things have slowed down substantially since.

Here are some things that I think really helped me in my initial push (went from 0-130 subscribers in the first 7 days):

  • Pre-launched with private emails to friends, family and biggest supporters (sent about 200 personally addressed emails in the two days before the official public launch)
  • Launched/made a big stink on my birthday, when traffic was super high
  • Offered 3 free songs in my initial post
  • Emailed my newsletter on launch day
  • Posted about my Patreon at least once a day on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. At the end of the week, some people had heard about it incessantly while others were still just learning about it for the first time. Algorithms. Sigh…
  • Overall, I’ve made an effort to keep the audio/video quality of my content high. I’m lucky to have creative friends with nice cameras who were willing to help me with a well-lit/professionally edited pitch video. I have a little home studio and have been renting extra gear to record new songs. Typically I’ll record a few songs or videos in a single session and then hire someone for finishing touches (audio mixing or video editing) and then stockpile that content to release every two weeks or so. Trying to stay ahead of the curve so that I have content ready to go when I get busy.

That’s probably all super obvious, I just made a “to do” list based on some of the materials provided my Patreon and stalking other people’s pages… But hopefully it’s helpful to someone

And if there’s something you tried that you’ve felt worked well, I would LOVE to know about it!

Please feel free to connect anything, I’ll leave all my links below.

Hi everyone  My name is Eli Lev and I’m a full time indie folk musician out of the DC area. Patreon has been a really cool way for me to interact with fans and give special goodies, but I think I can do it a lot better with your support and the guidance of this community! Any pointers or advice would be appreciated. I guess my main goal now is to post something once a week. https://www.patreon.com/elilevmusic

Hi!
I’m Emily and I’ve had my current Patreon set up since end of Feb 2016 (I had a brief foray with it in 2015 but it didn’t do well so I closed it). I love this place and love that I can connect with my fans this way. I do think there are a few things Patreon could improve (the site is SO slow and the app is often buggy) amongst other things, but overall it does the job!
I’m looking forward to seeing some tips on how to improve my community, it seems I’m constantly evolving my tiers.

Hi Folks! It’s been a while since we had a big influx of new creators to the platform, but wanted to let you know that about I’m sending out about 100 invitations, so expect to see lots of activity on this thread

I also haven’t had a chance to introduce myself, but I’m part of the marketing team here at Patreon. Three months in and I’m getting to know you all!

Please welcome these folks as these invitations go out today.

Hi everyone! I’m Paul and I’m a writer and filmmaker – I currently use Patreon to support a New York city icon, Radioman, who was formerly homeless and is now a bit of legend in that film community but has hit hard times again. I am also considering using Patreon to support a new film distribution label I’ve just started, which distributes films from filmmakers from under-represented backgrounds, but have yet to make a final decision on that! Hope to get to know a bunch of you guys and to become an active part of the community. - Paul

Hi! I resisted joining Patreon because it’s hard to classify my creations. Then I realized that wasn’t an excuse for failing to experiment. I write, I paint, I make things out of wood and electronics. I love what Patreon does for creators and I especially love that this is a business model that doesn’t depend on advertising. I’m interested in learning more about how to increase my number of patrons beyond what I’ve done on Twitter and Facebook. http://patreon.com/howardrheingold

So grateful to be here!

We’ve been inspired to build a new media company and community! Specifically, a YouTube Channel and a Community Forum just like this one here @ Patreon!

We’ve been doing Patreon for just a few months but already have 300 awesome patrons that are providing a few thousand dollars of monthly revenue!

We’re not fully-supported yet, as in… we aren’t making a full-time income for myself (and my brother), but, we feel like we are on our way!

So grateful for Patreon and the system that enables us to serve our community!
