i think a better way to solve this would be to add a checkbox somewhere when the patron is first pledging that indicates whether they want to allow monthly charges or just the one time pledge. then they’d have more control and be less likely to throw more problems at creators
Or a similar checkbox as to whether they want immediate access, despite another charge on the 1st of the next month, or to hold off on the charge until the 1st.
Would these suggestions work better for you?
I feel like there is a mix of creators wanting payments done on sign up anniversaries. Those who want to avoid the double charge, and those who just prefer that system in general. We could fix things for at least that first group with some other method that doesn’t come at the cost of hurting so many others.
Just as a reminder @ Patreon:
This is exactly what happened last time. It made it so most patrons who supported several people, had to narrow it down to one or two people at most (before they switched charging those extra fees to creators), which then destroyed the 1, 2, and even 3$ tiers.
Collectively we likely lost thousands of dollars the day this was implemented last time. Patrons were dropping like flies, people had to shut down their pages, it was trending on Twitter for days.
Do we really want to do this…AGAIN?
