Creators Need to Have the CHOICE on Who Comments On Public Posts

That explains why some of my followers who used to leave comments have stopped. I would like this to be reinstated as well, since some of those that follow me, it’s the ONLY place they do and no where else on the regular social media sites. Only ever had an issue once 2 years back from someone spamming my public posts and they were easily removed.

Oh man! I’m only finding out about this now. I had thought of something super fun to hopefully get some non-patron followers to check out my page, but if they can’t even comment… I get that they need an account for notifications and stuff, and I find this enough of a ‘barrier’ to be honest. That is actually helpful because then it’s less of a hurdle to go from non-paying account to patron.

Please pretty please bring the public commenting back soon!

Since this has happened I make sure to put a linked invite to my Discord for my followers, but I’ve not had any join. For many it’s just one more thing they don’t want to deal with (I’m guessing). I am really missing the comments. Most of my patrons don’t comment and a lot of my moral support comes from the comments of followers who for whatever reason are not patrons. My content is free for everyone. I don’t want them to have to pay to communicate with me.
Give us the ability to delete comments, mark them as spam, or block users from posting, but please don’t cut us off from our fan/followers/potential future patrons.

I think it’s really important to engage with non patrons on our patreon page. Invite them to comment to patreon is a way to let them discover the site.
This MUST be a option

This is really affecting me hard.

Make this an option! Those having issues with spam can turn it off, those of us who don’t or feel like dealing with that is more important because we can actually communicate with our fans already on the platform (who would be some of the easier folks to convert to subscribers) NEED this option. I have specifically told folks to follow my patreon account in the past for public posts and updates and as a way to talk with me and you’ve taken that away and negatively impacted my relationship with my patrons!

Patreon staff keep saying that they don’t want to get between us and our patrons but you keep doing it and not giving any inkling of a solution or even that it’s on the road map in any form. Please update us!

so no big news?
I was going to invite non-patrons to comment a post for the incoming Kinktober challenge

This affected me today. I tried to host a giveaway to everyone, per Patreon’s rules and what they actively encourage as an option, only to find out later, after my post went live, that only my patrons could comment?! I rushed to set up a Google Form instead. Come on, y’all.

Hey everyone,

I want to start off by thanking folks for sharing their feedback here, it’s really helpful to us as we plan for the future. As some have noted here, we released an update to allow public comments from creator accounts, but at this time we don’t have any immediate plans to change or add customization to the patron comments on public posts, but we may revisit this in the future and so having all of this feedback compiled together is where the team will start.
